User Guide

1.

Remove the lid from the container and make several vent holes on the lid with the attached pin.

2.

Dig and void out a pit on the substrate's top surface and put one larva into the hole

*Make sure the pit is big enough to fit your larvae

*Dig along the edges for the convenience to observe

3.

With the original substrate dug out from the pit, cover up both the void and the larvae.

4.

Place lid back onto the container

16oz: For female larva.

32oz: For male larva.

64oz: For male larva of larger species

Things to watch out for:

  • Consumed substrate get replaced by feces, a dark color substance

  • Replace substrate when 2/3 overall is consumed (typically about two months)

  • It is common to see a small number of fungi on the substrate

  • Replace substrate when under severe fungi invasion

  • Do not put multiple larvae in the same substrate to prevent cannibalism

  • Larvae need enough space to make proper pupa cells

  • Lack of space leads to improper pupa cells and failure of emergence

  • 32 oz option is usually enough for most larvae

  • 64 oz option increases safety for a larger larva's pupation
